Country Lane Quilting was established in 1996 by

Janet Mitchell and Mary Hibbs.

We have just finished celebrating our 13th year in business!

Come visit us and see how we have grown over the last

13 years!

(Don't forget to call ahead to make an appointment as we are "open by appointment only"!)

Who knew what was going to happen when two good friends decided they could do their own quilting and then went together and purchased their very own longarm machine and started a new business! We had NO idea that things would happen the way they did! We just celebrated our 13th Business Anniversary in September 2009. Thirteen years later we are STILL very good friends and still in business!  We now even have the first longarm machine in Egypt!

We purchased our first long arm machine in 1996. It weighed about 1/2 a ton and had an 18 inch throat with no stitch regulator. Who had heard of a stitch regulator? We had to learn on our own as we knew of no one to give us any lessons or pointers. We didn't even know if there were any other quilters.  Much of what we learned on our own we later relearned how to do some things much easier and sometimes better by later taking classes when we found there was such an organization as the International Machine Quilters Association (IMQA).  Before purchasing our first longarm machine we had only seen one machine ever demonstrated and that was at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Missouri.

Our business has grown and we now do lots of different things:

  • Teach Longarm classes
  • We still quilt for other people (in our Spare Time!)
  • Sell and Service KENQUILT Longarm Quilting Systems
  • Sell and Service CompuQuilter Systems (This allows computer generated capabilities to be added to your longarm machine.)
  • Travel to guilds and other gatherings to present lectures and trunkshows
  • Have booths at Quilt Shows and other events for the public
